Overview
VBED® 2 Bednasium is a multifunctional Pilates and sleeping bed that carries forward the philosophy of the “V-shaped bed (V-Bed)” pursued throughout the life of Joseph Pilates.
It has been re-engineered through Japanese craftsmanship and environmentally conscious circular-economy–based structural design.
VBED® 2 connects movement and rest within the same space, embodying a next-generation wellness machine that gives physical form to this ideal.
Features
1. Ideal postural support through a V-shaped structure
The gently inclined V-shaped design follows the body’s midline, naturally guiding the spine and internal organs into optimal alignment, supporting healthy breathing and circulation.
It is ideal not only for Pilates exercises, but also for napping, meditation, and recovery.
2. Circular-economy product design
VBED® 2 is developed as a circular-economy product, with circular systems integrated into every stage of its life cycle—including design, manufacturing, use, collection, and reuse.
3. Rocking mechanism
The proprietary rocking frame mechanism generates subtle, gentle motion that supports regulation of the autonomic nervous system and facilitates sleep onset.
The transition between movement and stillness is created not by mechanical switching, but by rhythm.
4. Multi-attachment compatibility
By combining springs, straps, a roll-up bar, and a mattress, the system can be freely reconfigured to suit different purposes, including Pilates, rehabilitation, stretching, meditation, and napping.
5. Manufacturing and supply system
Local production bases in Ome City and Okutama Town, Tokyo, enable a local production–for–local consumption model that reduces transportation impact and contributes to the regional economy.
The tatami components use the traditional Ome-jima tatami border (Ome-shima tatami-beri) from Ome City.
